Software engineering and art - it's a wonderful mix!
Creativity is the same muscle no matter what you're designing - paintings or computer software.
From 2016-2018 I had the privilege of working with Smartsheet software company to create 18+ original paintings inspired by their monthly software releases. A little bit about Smartsheet - they are the world’s leading platform for managing collaborative work (used by over 50% of Fortune 500 companies). Their software engineers say they tap into creativity just like I do - and they gave me the opportunity to make exclusive artwork just for for them!
Each painting they commissioned represents a different monthly Smartsheet software release. They gave me the title of the release - for example, Orca - and wanted me to come up with an original painting that represented that software release. It was a wonderful experience that stretched my creativity to new limits.
On July 28-30, 2017, I was also invited to participate in the Bellevue Arts Museum ARTSfair with Smartsheet near their headquarters in Bellevue, WA. They commissioned me to design a promotional art booth displaying all of the artwork I created for them, and we handed out prints of all of the artwork. You can see photos of that event and the art booth on my events page here (just scroll down).
To read an interview I did about my creative process for the paintings, check out Smartsheet’s blog post here, and also learn a bit more about the work I did for them here.
